We're taking it outside, in the sunshine... I know you want to and you CAN say yes! Internationally renowned life model Craig will be striking poses for us in a sunlit forest glade on Saturday while we draw and nibble snacks (bring snacks!) for 2 hours.
We'll meet at Snaresbrook Station and walk 15 minutes to the woods, settle down, and get pencil to paper with the sounds of the birds and the breeze.
Good quality essential materials are provided - but you're welcome to bring some of your own. We have art boards, quality cartridge paper, pencils, charcoal/fixative spray, sharpeners, rubbers, tape and clips.
As always with our group, this is a very safe and respectful space for artists and model alike. Everybody is welcome, you don't have to be LGBTQIA+ to join us, but you should probably consider giving it a whirl some time. If you're new please say hi to the organiser, Ed! He's shy ☺️
We zip through some quick 60-second sketches to warm up and get into gradually longer 10 and 25 minute poses, 20 minute break in the middle, a 25 minute pose, and ending on a 30 minute pose. At the end of the session, if you're curious about what other people have been drawing, we lay out the work we're willing to share and take a peek at how other artists responded to the same stimulus.
There will be some discrete promotional filming for Instagram at each session, please indicate if you prefer not to appear in the video! It's up to you - see our Insta reels for examples of how we roll.
Your tickets are flexible: you can redeem your booked sessions at any time, and if your plans change we can let you join a later event, but if you buy a 3 or 6 pack of tickets, please let me know each week if you plan to attend so that I can keep track of numbers and fill all available seats. Also if you buy multiple tickets, drop me a message if you will be bringing extra people! This is just to ensure we never have more people than we can comfortably fit in the space.
We've introduced some tipping options for those with the means to: you can choose a single ticket + £5 tip when you book your place. Or you can approach the model in person. This is entirely up to you if you feel so inclined; our models are paid properly and promptly for their work!
We're a training session not a contest, so remember: you ARE good enough to draw with us - we learn by making mistakes, not by avoiding them! And I'm here to help you with anything you want to improve - just ask. We're a mix of creative professionals and total novices, all beavering away to refine our skills in a quietly focused and productive weekly session. Drawing from life is a skill you maintain constantly; you've never completely finished learning how to represent reality in two dimensions, it just keeps getting better...
